Physical Education
Instructor: Coach Haude
Your child will have P.E. two days a week. In order to keep the gym floor in the best possible shape, I am asking that your child wear tennis shoes and P.E. appropriate clothing on his/her P.E. days.  He/she may bring a water bottle to P.E. class if desired as we are often outside in the warm weather. Your child will be required to participate in P.E. unless I have a note from you stating why he/she cannot participate. My program will concentrate on fitness as well as learning the skills necessary to participate in recreational activities that will contribute to an active and healthy lifestyle.

I will be giving an “Athlete of the Month” award to a boy and girl in each grade level. This award is given to students who display remarkable effort, leadership, and sportsmanship throughout the month. In the spring all P.E. students will be participating in the Presidential Physical Fitness Challenge which consists of five events. The events are curl-ups (sit-ups), shuttle run, one mile run, right angle push-ups, and the v-sit reach. Students must meet the required times or marks in all five events in order to receive the Presidential Physical Fitness Award. If they come close to the required times or marks they may be eligible for the National Physical Fitness Award. We will be practicing the events periodically in P.E. throughout the year. However, it would be helpful if your child also practiced the events at home.
